Have you ever looked a photo that made you smiling to yourself or maybe almost made you cried? Well, that’s one of the power of photography. A good photographer know how to build emotion through their photo so anyone who’ll see their photo will feel some emotion. Of course, despite all the techniques required in photography, the photographer must know the essence of the object their taking picture with. So, here are some list that i think a photographer must not forget :
- Decisive Moment
Patience is the key. Don’t rush to capture the object when they’re still not in a decisive moment. It’s worth to wait because you can create an amazing photo with it. Example photography that needed a desicive moment are high speed photography, motion blur photography, long exposure photography, etc. - Dramatize it
Don’t relying too much with editing software too dramatize your photo. Trust your skill! Let the editing software just an additional touch to make your photo even better than before. There are a view way to dramatize a photo :- Colour
With different colour you chose to your photo, it will make different effect. For example, you can see : BW photography, lomo photography, IR photography, silhouette photography, etc - Play with light
You can make your photo brighter or darker. There are also some techniques you can use to playing with light, such as : HDR, silhouette, night photography, etc - Depth of field
Know how to play with your diaphragm and know when you have to used a big one or a small one. Depth of field is certainly need to be optimized when you’re taking a macro photography session. - Detail
You can add more detail to your photo such as grain, gritty, hairline, etc or you can reduce it. Chose what you think is the most matching to your photo.
- Colour
- Angle
With different angle, you can make different effect to your photo. Try no to make a static one and explore the object so you can know what angle is the best. - The message behind it
Don’t ever forget the purpose you captured that object, whether it’s for commercial, art, or anything. Photo can be a media for you to communicate with people
Maybe, this list is not an absolute way to create a great photo but i do hope that these things i wrote can help you to create a good photo.
